As we explore ways to stay motivated and on track to meet our business goals, one thing to keep in mind is that every little bit helps! Small actions that we take every day have tremendous potential to add up and build business success!

Studies have shown that taking action actually releases chemicals that make us take more action. So on days when you have no motivation, do at least ONE THING that will put your closer to your goal.

Success looks different for every person, every business owner, and every business. That means the actions taken to maintain motivation and momentum or help push you towards your goal will look different for everyone. If you’re not sure what kinds of daily actions you can take to stay on track, we are here to help! Below is a list of a few ideas to get you started.

4 Ways To Take Action And Build Your Business Every Day

  1. Daily Planning. It can be immensely helpful and motivating to sit down with a planner and plan out your day. Some people prefer to do this the night before; others like to do it first thing in the morning. This daily practice organizes your day and maximizes your time by prioritizing tasks for the day before you get sidelined by the inevitables that crop up. It’s also a good time to review broader business goals and progress towards them. 20 or 30 minutes a day is all you need to organize your day and energize yourself.
  2. Staff Meetings. If you’re the type who feels on task when you’re in the know, then a daily or weekly staff meeting is a great way to help you minimize the distractions that come from not knowing. Staff meetings are a terrific way to touch base and ensure all employees are on the same page about the work that needs to be prioritized that day (or week), helping everyone stay on task and on track!
  3. Daily Routines. Some people are action or task oriented. If this sounds like you, you may benefit from a daily routine related to the business like opening the store, making bank deposits, balancing the books, or taking inventory. While these tasks can easily be assigned to an employee, they are very hands-on giving you the feeling that you have actually accomplished something. The administrative tasks of owning your own business can be thankless and make it difficult to feel like you’ve accomplished anything on a given day, but if you have a hands-on routine, you will always feel like you’ve done SOMETHING that day.
  4. Customer Contact. Reach out to a customer or two each day. Contact with customers can help remind you why you’re in this business, identify areas of customer concern, generate or develop leads, and strengthen existing connections. Contact can be highly personal, such as an email or phone call or even coffee with a customer just to check in and see how they’re doing. It can also be very passive. Hop on your social media pages and see what kind of comments and activity is being generated. Either way, you stand to gain some insight into customer wants, needs, and desires that can be put to good use in the future.

What’d we miss? There are so many ways to stay on track and keep motivation levels high! I’d love to hear what you do each day to support your business growth and goals!
